Description: Ayres Associates provided Waushara County, Wisconsin with digital, color orthoimagery services in 2015 as part of WROC. The aerial imagery was collected on March 27th and 28th and April 11th, 12th, 15th, and 26th using a Leica Geosystems ADS 100 sensor mounted in a fixed-wing aircraft. Aerial imagery was collected to support 0.5 foot ground sample distance (GSD) orthoimagery to meet ASPRS Class II horizontal accuracy specifications at 1" = 100' map scale. The horizontal accuracy meets or exceeds 2.0 feet RMSE using the National Standards for Spatial Data Accuracy (NSSDA) standards. Resultant orthoimagery was rectified to a new DEM created from the acquired imagery and existing LiDAR. Orthoimagery was delivered in PLSS section GeoTiff and MrSID tiles and a project wide MrSID mosaic. The orthoimagery was delivered according to a section tile schematic. The total project area is 637 square miles, plus a 500-ft buffer around the county boundary. Geographic Description: Waushara County is located in the east-central part of Wisconsin, where the appearance of its attractive landscape varies across the county. From rough, rolling hills in the north to more gentle slopes and valleys in the south and east, glaciers shaped the changing topography of this county. The Redgranite quarry, once a mine and now a designated village park, is a popular destination for both recreational use and scuba diving certification in this rural section of Wisconsin. Supplemental Information: The Wisconsin Regional Orthophotography Consortium (WROC) is a multi-entity group led by regional planning commissions (RPCs) and WROC representatives from Ayres Associates. The goal of the consortium is to build and sustain a multi-participant program to acquire digital orthoimagery and elevation data throughout Wisconsin. Orthoimagery was collected for Waushara County in 2015 to provide consistent deliverable products and accruacy standards for each of the participating entities.
